ACCESS exhibition on Trace Mag Blog

ACCESS was mentioned in TRACE mags blog/e-newsletter.

"...The exhibit, ACCESS, is running from Oct. 14th through Nov. 14th, at the Brooklyn gallery. Showcasing the works of an array of both emerging and accomplished artists, like Atif Ateeq who brings new life by shedding light on the Muslim community in New York, in a post 9/11 world...."

ACCESS

I have a photo in the ACCESS group exhibition at The Gallery @ Harriets Alter Ego. The following are details. Try to make it out, it should be fun!

Opening:
Sunday October 14th at 3pm
Open Bar from 4-7
DJ Lynnee Denise holdin it down!

Address is 293 Flatbush Ave. Take the Q or B to 7th ave, 3rd stop into Brooklyn.

The show will be up until November 14th

EXHIBIT STATEMENT
ACCESS curated by Kareem Black. The lens often gives access to an
individual in a mode that no other medium can. The photography
works to be included in the ACCESS exhibition will have a peculiar
composition that incites a feeling of exclusivity and causes the
viewer feel privy to the photographed subject matter. This exhibit
will examine how we receive and perceive intimate moments and
public occurrences.

Seconds of my Life by Jamel Shabazz

If you didn't goto the book release and exhibition of Jamel Shabazz's Seconds of my Life. You really missed out. It was a great event and the images on display were incredible. I have never been so inspired. I had been wanting to meet Jamel since I saw his book A time Before Crack. He has been shooting African American communities and life for over 25 years. The reason I relate to his images so much is because what he is doing is similar to what I am trying to do with the South Asian community. The passion he has for his lifelong project and dedication just shows me that I am on the right track and hopefully the images I take will be an important document years down the line.
